Pat Murphy, Arlington Public Schools Superintendent

Dr. Pat Murphy was appointed Superintendent of Schools in April 2009 and joined the school division on July 1, 2009.
Background

An Arlington County resident, Dr. Murphy has been an educator for 21 years, serving the Fairfax County Public Schools for 19 of those years in a variety of instructional leadership positions. During the last four years, he has served as assistant superintendent for accountability in Fairfax, where he has been responsible for testing, research and evaluation, and division- and school-based strategic planning.
