Middle School Countywide Schools and Programs

H-B Woodlawn

The H-B Woodlawn program serves students countywide. It is designed for students who can benefit from having more control over their education than that provided in their neighborhood middle and high school.

• School profile

• Population it serves -- H-B Woodlawn is a countywide program open to all students in middle and high school via application to the 6th or 9th grade entry levels. (Note: spaces at the 9th grade entry level may be limited).

• Transportation -- Provided to students living more than 1.5 miles away from the school.

• Admission process -- Students are admitted through an application process.

Kenmore Middle School

Kenmore Middle School offers a focus program where the Arlington middle school curriculum is taught through the arts and communications technology.

• Population it serves -- Students in the school attendance area and students countywide by application.

• Transportation -- Provided to students who live more than 1.5 miles away from the school.

• Admissions process --An application process is used and students are admitted as long as the building has sufficient capacity to accomodate the students.

Gunston Immersion Program

The Spanish language immersion program offered at Gunston Middle School provides an academic continuation of the elementary immersion program provided at Key and Claremont Elementary Schools.

• Population it serves -- Students in the school attendance area, students who attended the immersion program at Key or Claremont, and students who show appropriate proficiency in Spanish.

• Transportation -- Provided to students living more than 1.5 miles away from the school.

• Admissions process -- All qualified immersion transfers are admitted.
