Parents are encouraged to discuss summer school options at parent-teacher conferences on March 4th and 5th.Summer School General Information and Registration DeadlinesArlington Public Schools will provide a variety of summer programs for students in grades Pre-K through 12 during summer 2010. Most classes run from July 12 – August 12 for elementary and middle school students, and from July 12 – August 19 for high school students. A registration fee of $100.00 and tuition (if applicable) are due at the time of registration as explained in the Summer School Catalog which can be viewed by following the link at the top of this page. Course catalogs will be distributed to all APS schools at the end of February. Registration forms and applications for reduced fees (based on family income) are included in the course catalog. Monday, March 1 Registration opens for all APS Summer Programs (except Career Center Enrichment which opens March 16) Friday, March 26 Registration deadline for: · Elementary Enrichment Programs (including Outdoor Lab Camp for Middle School students) · Elementary Countywide Special Education Programs (including SPED Pre-K) Friday, April 23 Registration deadline for: · Pre-K and Kindergarten Programs · Elementary Math and Language Arts Programs · Elementary Self-Contained Special Education Program · Elementary ESOL/HILT Program · Elementary Spanish Immersion Program · High School New Work for Credit Courses · Driver Education · Secondary Countywide Special Education Programs Friday, June 18 Registration deadline for: · Middle School Make Up and Strengthening Courses (including Self-Contained Special Education and HILT/HILT Extension) · Middle School Spanish Immersion Program · High School Make Up and Strengthening Courses (including Self-Contained Special Education and HILT/HILT Extension) · English 11 SOL Strengthening Course in Writing · · New K-12 students who will attend APS schools in Fall 2010 (excludes regular and SPED Pre-K, all Countywide Special Education Programs, New Work for Credit, and Driver Education) Friday, June 25 Registration deadline for Career Center Enrichment Programs Monday, June 28 SOL English 11 Writing Course begins (tests given July 13-16) Thursday, July 1 Late registration at Monday, July 12 First day of Summer School Friday, July 30 Registration deadline for: · Secondary SOL Strengthening Courses (except the English 11 Writing Course – see above) · Last day for Elementary Enrichment Programs Monday, August 2 Secondary SOL Strengthening Courses and the Algebra I Refresher Course begin Thursday, August 12 Last day of Summer School for elementary and middle school students Thursday, August 19 Last day of Summer School for high school students Students should register at their home schools, by 4 p.m. on the day of the relevant deadline.
