Randolph Elementary School is a neighborhood school, fully authorized as a Primary Years Program of the International Baccalaureate (IB PYP), and fully accredited by the Commonwealth of Virginia. The Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) are taught through interdisciplinary units. Our program emphasizes critical thinking skills and learning through inquiry. The study of Spanish as a foreign language is included in the instructional day. The IB PYP teaches our students to look at topics from a global perspective, and emphasizes respect for others, independent study/research skills, and critical thinking.

The strong sense of community at Randolph is fostered by involvement of business partners, neighbors and other Friends of Randolph in our school, and also by the community service our children provide to others. In the late afternoon, at night, and on many weekends our school continues to be an active place. After school programs include homework clubs, Arabic, Spanish enrichment, computer based activities, drama, music, math, Young Authors, dance, and Randolph TV. At night, many parents participate in English language classes and career skills. On weekends there are Family Learning Saturdays with the Randolph Players.

We participate with GMU in the Holmes Partnership of universities, public schools, and professional organizations that prepare future teachers. Randolph is a Professional Development School of George Mason University. Our teachers mentor interns who are part of our staff year round, as they pursue a graduate study in education.
