Our dedicated, experienced staff members offer an outstanding program of studies in order to prepare all students for their future as knowledgeable, literate and responsible community members. This year, we have been identified as a Community School in recognition of the many collaborative partnerships already in place that support family members and volunteers as they meet children's needs and mentor students on their road to academic success. Family members have many ways to participate actively in the school through the Organization of Parents, Teachers and Students (OPTS), Thursday Family Library Learning Nights, frequent workshops and curriculum nights. Everyone is a part of our Community of Learners! Carlin Springs' instructional program is both challenging and enriching. Class size ratios are small, and children receive individualized attention from a variety of well-trained teachers. Learning is extended during the summer in our full-day, site-based summer program called Alpha Adventure. This year, we offer three pre-kindergarten classes for four-year-olds through the Virginia Pre-School Initiative (VPI). We also received a Reading First Grant from the State to enhance our reading instruction in grades K-3. We are extremely proud of the beautiful new Carlin Springs facility. Come walk down Main Street with its colorful flags from our families' native\ countries and skylights that open a window to the outdoor sky above. The school has a state-of-the-art computer lab, library and broadcast studio. The building itself is not only a wonderful place to work and learn it sends a clear message that we strive for excellence and make a world of difference. |
