December 16th was a Roving Readers Day at Barrett. Roving Readers visited 10 classrooms sharing favorite stories and books about the holidays. Roving Readers are a diverse group of Barrett parents, grandparents and community members who come into the classroom as guest readers and storytellers. The Roving Readers name and approach were developed by the Teaching for Change <http://www.teachingforchange.org/parentorg/rovingreaders> Tellin' Stories Project. They inspire a love for reading and enhance literacy in the classroom sharing books and stories that challenge stereotypes and promote inclusion and positive self-esteem.
