CREW (Boys and Girls)

Yorktown's rowing is open to all Yorktown and H-B Woodlawn students interested in strenuous competition at the highest level of high school athletics in the country. Novices learn basic rowing technique in the Fall.  The competitive season for both novice and experienced rowers starts in the Spring, culminating in local and East Coast regattas every weekend in April and May.  The team can accommodate well over 100 rowers.  Everyone races in boats according to ability. Dues are about $450 per year.  Scholarships are available. Financial and time commitments are explained in detail in a Fall meeting.  Rowers benefit from increased self-discipline, improved goal setting, time management skills, and physical well-being.  Both rowers and parents consistently rate their participation in crew as one of the highlights of their high school activities. The Crew Boosters is the parents organization which provides volunteers and raises funds needed to run the program.
