Spring Sports Tryout Schedule!

SCHEDULE UPDATES:

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 8

All events scheduled for Monday, February 8 have been canceled.

BASKETBALL: The Mt. Vernon games are rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 10. The regularly scheduled Edison games will occur on Thursday night (boys at home and girls away). The Hayfield games have been rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 12 (girls at home, boys at Hayfield). The Stuart games will be played as a varsity only doubleheader on Monday, Feb. 15.

WRESTLING: District tournament will tentatively occur on Tuesday, Feb. 9 at Stuart.

TRACK: The district track tournament has been rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 12 at TJ (all events except 3200 relay and long/triple jump).

SWIM: The boys regional swim meet will be held Friday, Feb. 12 at Oak Marr at 5:30 pm. The girls diving will also be held on Friday with site and time info to come.

RIFLE: Saturday's match against Woodson has been rescheduled to Monday, February 15 at 4 pm at Blue Ridge Arsenal.

Spring Sports - Tryouts begin on Monday, February 22. Click here for a schedule of tryout times. All students interested in participating in baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse, crew, tennis and outdoor track must have a valid VHSL physical on file no later than February 22. A link to the VHSL physical form can be found below.

Fall Sports 2010

Fall sports will begin no earlier than August 10, 2010, with the exception of golf (August 3). Freshmen football will begin on August 16. Specific start dates will be updated as additional information becomes available.

Swim Team Captures Boys and Girls District Titles

Both the boys and girls swim teams won National District Championships on Monday, February 1. The boys were lead by Wren Rudolph, Matt Essig, Connor Healy and Greg Croswell. The girls ended a perfect season and recorded another championship, led by Kaitlin Wolla, Abby Ortmayer, Molly Merkel and Stephanie Romano.

Congratulations to the Forensics Team

The Yorktown Forensics team won the 2010 National District Championship on Thursday, February 4, to repeat as district champions. Members of the team placed in each event in which they competed, highlighting a total team effort.

Congratulations to the Scholastic Bowl/It's Academic Team

On Saturday, January 16, the Yorktown Scholastic Bowl team won the 2010 National District Championship at Edison High School with an undefeated 7-0 record. This is the second time in three years the team has won the championship. Jimin He led the team in scoring, while all team members played key roles in the victories - Annie Schwiekert, Dylan McGowan, Wren Rudolph, Alden Hart, Chowkas Ghosh, Sydney Rogers and Jack Crum. Congratulations!
