SCHEDULE UPDATES:

SOFTBALL, JV & V - Friday's scrimmages with Langley have been canceled. Teams will practice in the gym at 4:30-5:30 pm.

LACROSSE, BOYS - Friday, March 12 - Both teams will scrimmage at Wakefield. V plays at 6:30 and 7:30, bus time is 5:15. JV plays at 8:00 and 9:00, JV bus time is 6:45.

BASEBALL - Friday - practice in the gym 3:30-4:30.

SOCCER, BOYS - Friday - practice on TURF 3:30-5:00.

LACROSSE, GIRLS - Friday - practice on TURF 4:45-6:30.

SOCCER, GIRLS - Friday - Meet at 6:00 in old gym lobby for uniforms. Practice on TURF 6:30-8:30.

TENNIS - Friday - No Practice. Beginning Monday, March 15, tennis players who ride the bus to Bluemont should board Bus 610 immediately at the conclusion of the school day (3:01 pm). The last stop on this bus route will be at Bluemont Park.

SOCCER, GIRLS - RESCHEDULE - The games against Lake Braddock on March 19 have been rescheduled to May 5, same times (JV 5:30 and V 7 pm).

Fall Sports 2010

Fall sports will begin no earlier than August 10, 2010, with the exception of golf (August 3). Freshmen football will begin on August 16. Specific start dates will be updated as additional information becomes available.

Swim Team Captures Boys and Girls District Titles

Both the boys and girls swim teams won National District Championships on Monday, February 1. The boys were lead by Wren Rudolph, Matt Essig, Connor Healy and Greg Croswell. The girls ended a perfect season and recorded another championship, led by Kaitlin Wolla, Abby Ortmayer, Molly Merkel and Stephanie Romano.

Congratulations to the Forensics Team

The Yorktown Forensics team won the 2010 National District Championship on Thursday, February 4, to repeat as district champions. Members of the team placed in each event in which they competed, highlighting a total team effort.

Congratulations to the Scholastic Bowl/It's Academic Team

On Saturday, January 16, the Yorktown Scholastic Bowl team won the 2010 National District Championship at Edison High School with an undefeated 7-0 record. This is the second time in three years the team has won the championship. Jimin He led the team in scoring, while all team members played key roles in the victories - Annie Schwiekert, Dylan McGowan, Wren Rudolph, Alden Hart, Chowkas Ghosh, Sydney Rogers and Jack Crum. Congratulations!
