First graders have such a passion for the environment. This year students will jump into lessons about the role they play in keeping our environment clean and healthy.
They will demonstrate knowledge of the 3R’s (reduce, reuse, recycle) and create posters to teach others ways to be good to our planet.
Students will become experts in reducing energy waste. Teams of “Energy Patrols” will walk the halls and reward classrooms for turning off their lights when they leave the room. They also serve up friendly reminders to those who forget.
Our 1st graders are also animal lovers. They will decide how they can reuse objects to help out Virginia’s birds that don’t migrate to warmer climates in the winter.
After learning about recycling and its importance to the health of our planet, they will tour a recycling plant and find out the answer to, “Where does our recycling go?”
