Summer Reading Lists
Why read in the summer?
During the school year, students engage daily in
processes that cultivate strong reading habits.
Research shows that students actually lose one to
three months of learning during the summer when
they do not engage in academic activities.

The Virginia Junior Academy of Science is a research symposium for students in grades 7-12. Each year, students from all over Virginia submit papers to VJAS documenting a science research project that they have worked on during the year. The papers are reviewed by a panel of judges, and the authors of the top papers in each subject area are invited to present their projects formally at the annual symposium. This year twenty-one students will represent Kenmore at VJAS. Congratulations to the following students.
