The Arlington School Board adopted the FY 2017-26 Capital Improvement Plan. The committed and proposed projects in the 10-year CIP total $510.29 million and include $435.03 million in bond funding. APS to Host Community Forum for the New Elementary School at the Jefferson Site
APS wants to hear your input and questions related to the New Elementary School at the Jefferson Site. Planning is currently in the concept design phase and a proposed design is expected to be submitted to the School Board in June. On June 8, 2016 APS will host a Community Forum beginning at 7 PM in the Thomas Jefferson Middle School Library. The purpose of the meeting will be to inform the community of the planning progress made so far and to hear feedback from community members. At the May 5, 2016 School Board meeting the Superindendent presented his proposed FY 2017-26 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). The School Board will hold CIP work sessions on May 10 and May 17. A CIP public hearing will be held on May 19 at the Education Center at the regular School Board meeting starting at 7:30 p.m.
APS held Community Meeting #5 to discuss possible Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) option sets for adding capacity at the elementary, middle and high levels across Arlington County. We want to hear from you. The deadline to complete the on-line feedback form for possible option sets has been extended to May 2, 2016. The School Board will take action this Thursday on preferences 1-3 of the South Arlington Working Group report to move Henery ES to a new elementary school at the Jefferson site, move the Montessori program from its current location at Drew to the former Henry ES building, and open approximately 400 seats at Drew ES.
As a monitoring item the School Board will also hear the Superintendent's Report of SAWG Preference #4 on possible options for a new elementary school in south Arlington.
APS will hold Community Stakeolder Meeting #4 to develop and analyze options for adding capacity at the elementary, middle and high levels across Arlington County. Tonight's meeting will take place at 7 p.m. in the Washington-Lee High School cafeteria. The next Community Meeting #5 will take place on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at 7 p.m. in the Thomas Jefferson Middle School auditorium.
