SY 2023-24 School Board Work Session Schedule & Changes

For the 2023-24 school year, the School Board is introducing a new format for all work session meetings. The School Board regularly holds work sessions for staff to brief the Board on specific topics and engage in-depth dialogue. Work sessions are open to the public, but no public comments are accepted.

This year, the School Board will hold work sessions from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. once per quarter. During work session days, multiple work sessions will be scheduled covering different topics. The School Board will hold evening work sessions when advisory committees are invited or if there is a need to add a meeting to the calendar. This change is being made after consideration of various factors, which include operational efficiency and the alignment of topics and obligations for staff. By implementing this new meeting format, the School Board hopes to design a sustainable and practical meeting calendar.

All work sessions occur on the second floor in the Board Room of the Syphax Education Center, 2110 Washington Blvd., Arlington, VA. In addition, all work sessions are live-streamed and can be viewed any time after the meeting by visiting the School Board Work Sessions webpage.
