National Board for Professional Teaching Standards
One-hour overviews are offered twice each year to provide background information and a broad overview of the NB Certification process.
The National Board seminar provides teachers with a more in-depth understanding of the expectations and components of the assessment process to enable them to make an informed decision about pursuing National Certification. Candidates who participate in this seminar get priority in funding when interest exceeds available funding.
APS supports around 30 candidates at 100% of the assessment fee. Candidates must be full-time T-Scale employees.
Arlington Public Schools offers a support cohort facilitated by our NBCTs designed to support and guide candidates as they go through the process.

At this point we have filled all spots for the 16-17 National Board cohort. We may be able to pull teachers into the cohort off of a wait list. Please send your completed application to Kerri Hirsch in the professional development office if you would like to be added to the list.
