Parents and Community Members Invited to Volunteer on the Pupil Services Committee

Arlington Public Schools is inviting parents and community members to apply to serve as a member of the Arlington Pupil Services Advisory Committee (formerly Student Services Advisory Committee).

The advisory committee reviews the services offered by psychologists, social workers, substance abuse counselors, school counselors, and attendance specialists. The committee reports to the Advisory Council on Instruction (ACI) and makes recommendations for changes or improvements in services.

During the 2010-11 school year, the committee focused on anti-bullying initiatives, strategies for strengthening relationships between students, and the use of social media as a student-staff communication tool.  More information can be found online.

The Pupil Services Advisory Committee meets once a month throughout the school year (September-June) from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Arlington Education Center (1426 N. Quincy Street).

If you are interested in applying for one of the openings on the APS Pupil Services Advisory Committee, complete and submit the online application

If you would like to attend a committee meeting to see if the topics match your interests, the final meeting of the year is scheduled for Tue, June 19.

For general questions about ACI and the application process, call 703-228-6145.
