Three Arlington Seniors Receive National Hispanic Recognition Program Honors
The College Board and the National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP) announced that three Arlington seniors will receive national Hispanic Program Recognitions.

The students honored are Angela F. Mestre and Veronica Sever from Washington-Lee High School and Kylee Self from Yorktown High School.

NHRP honors the exceptional academic achievements of Hispanic high school seniors. The program, established by the College Board in 1983, identifies academically outstanding Hispanic high school students based on their PSAT/NMSQT test scores and grade point averages.

NHRP identifies approximately 5,000 high school juniors who took the PSAT/NMSQT and identified themselves as Hispanic. There is no monetary award associated with the selection, but the College Board provides the names of selected students to subscribing colleges and universities, which may recruit these students and may offer financial support.

The Arlington School Board will recognize these students as well as the National Merit Scholarship and the National Achievement Scholarship semifinalists at the beginning of the Dec. 6 meeting. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Board Room, Arlington Education Center, 1426 North Quincy Street, Arlington.
