APS Now Accepting Entries for the 2012 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Literary and Visual Arts Contest
Arlington Public Schools students are invited to take part in the annual the "Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Literary and Visual Contest" now through Fri. Dec. 21, 2012.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. believed in many things and took a stand for what he believed in. Describe in writing or create a visual image of a role model, celebrity, or current figure that you feel has taken a stand for an important issue in our world today.
The contest is open to all APS students in grades K-12. Awards will be given in four grade levels: K-2; 3-5; 6-8; and 9-12.
Contest winners will be announced in January. Winners will be recognized at Arlington County’s Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. event on Sun, Jan. 20. Students will also be recognized at the School Board meeting on Thu, Jan. 24. Each first place entry along with a photograph of the winners will be published in the Sun-Gazette newspaper and on their website.
Contest rules and the entry form are available online
and at all APS schools, Arlington County libraries and community centers which are listed below. There is no fee to enter the contest. Entries can be submitted by email to email@example.com
or can be dropped off at any APS school or Arlington community center.
All entries must be received by 5 p.m. on Fri. Dec. 21, at any of the following locations:
