Additional Community Boundary Suggestions Available
Before the winter break, Arlington Public Schools shared suggested boundary options received from the community to develop boundaries for the new elementary school on the Williamsburg site and to adjust boundaries to address overcapacity at seven identified schools (Ashlawn, Glebe, Jamestown, McKinley, Nottingham, Taylor and Tuckahoe).
APS has received useful comments from community members as well as some additional suggested options. These new suggested options have been added to the More Seats for More Students website
and comments and suggestions from the community are invited.
The suggested options are not listed in any order and are shared to further engage the community and solicit feedback. As a reminder, the Superintendent will be bringing his recommendations for boundary decisions to the School Board in late March for implementation in September 2015.
The following are the upcoming meetings in January and February regarding these boundary decisions.
January 23 – Community meeting at Williamsburg Middle School at 7 p.m. for updates from surveys, review of School Board criteria and refinement of options.
January 28 – Information Sharing on More Seats for More Students and boundary timeframes at Kindergarten Information Night, 7 p.m., at Washington-Lee for parents of incoming students.
February 6 – Community Meeting at Williamsburg Middle School at 7 p.m. for further refinement of options.
