In this week's episode of Snapshots, Superintendent Dr. Pat Murphy talks to math supervisor Margaret Chung about the annual MathDice Tournament which was held at Drew on Sat, May 11.
This year’s tournament brought together over 120 fifth grade students from 21 Arlington elementary schools. MathDice is a fun and engaging mental math game that helps supports students’ development of key math concepts and skills. To play, students generate target numbers and scoring numbers from dice. They use their scoring numbers to form a math equation that comes as close to the target as possible. The player with the closest score wins points throughout each round of play.
