  APS to Dedicate Wakefield High School This Weekend
 
The Arlington community is invited to join Arlington Public Schools and Wakefield High School students and staff as they dedicated the new school at 1:30 p.m. on Sun, Sept. 22.

After the building dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony, there will be an open house where visitors can take self-guided tours of the new facility. Tour stops include the Town Hall; two computer labs; and art room; the band room; a science lab; and the family and consumer sciences kitchen.

In addition, there will be an opening ceremony for the new Aquatics Center and an open swim from 3:30-6 p.m.
The schedule of events is as follows:
  • Building Dedication and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony – 1:30 p.m.
  • Open House and Self-Guided Tours – 2:30-4:30 p.m.
  • Opening Ceremony for the New Aquatics Center – 3:30 p.m.
  • Aquatics Center Open House – 3:45-6 p.m.

Parking Information:
Because there is a limited amount of parking available at Wakefield High School during the Grand Opening, guests are encouraged to park at one of the following parking locations, and take the FREE APS shuttle bus to Wakefield High School. The shuttles will begin at Noon on September 22, and will run every 15 minutes.

Shuttle Pick-Up Locations:

  • Kenmore Middle School - 200 South Carlin Springs Road, Arlington, 22204
  • Barcroft Sports and Fitness Center - 4200 S. Four Mile Run, Arlington, 22206
  • Arlington County Trades Center - 2700 South Taylor Street, Arlington, 22206

The last shuttle will leave Wakefield High School at 5:00 — 30 minutes after the Open House & Self-Guided Tours end at 4:30 p.m.
