| Free Nutrition And Health Classes For APS Parents Presented by Public Health Nurses from the Bureau of School Health Eat, Live and Be Well! October 2011—April 2012 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. Tue, Jan. 10 session: Exercise: The Fountain of Youth Eat, Live and Be Well is an educational lecture series designed by public health nurses to teach the basics of nutrition and healthy living. We will explore why family meal time is so important and how to make healthy choices on a budget, whether you’re eating fast food or a home cooked meal. | ADHD Parent Support Network Wed, January 25, 2012 - 7:00pm to 8:15pm The Arlington AD/HD Parent Support Network meets regularly and provides families an opportunity to receive information on each meeting’s designated topic, as well as opportunities to participate in discussions with other parents, staff and guest speakers. Our first 2011-12 ADHD Parent Support Network meeting will address the topic of acquainting your child’s new teachers with your family and talking with teachers about your child’s AD/HD. Plan to bring suggestions and strategies that you’ve successfully used in the past, and questions you may have for the group. | Kindergarten Information Night Mon, Jan. 30, 2012, 7-9 p.m. The evening will begin with a general APS overview in the auditorium, where parents/guardians will receive information about the kindergarten curriculum, the student registration process, school options, extended day and other school-related services; including helpful tips on how parents/guardians can prepare their children for their kindergarten experience. After the general session, representatives from each of our APS 22 elementary schools will be on hand to meet parents and provide additional information about their schools.
