  • More Good News!
Jenna G., Mary H., John F., Sophie H., Alex L., Carmen S., Skylar B., Dominique M., and Xander D. presented their science papers at the Virginia Junior Academy of Science Research Symposium at Virginia Tech on May 22, 2013. They all represented Gunston well with their hard work, amazing articulate presentations and excellent behavior.

VJAS Xander won first place in Human Behavior at the conference, the first time we have had a first place winner from Gunston.

Sixteen former Gunston students, now in high school, also presented their science work at the conference, and many of them also placed in their categories.

Congratulations to these students and to all the Gunston staff members who supported them. Special thanks to their science teachers and to Ms. Burgos who shepherded them through the process. Go Hornets!

    • poetry Gunston Authors!
Mr. Stewart's 8th grade students have published an e-book, called Poetry in Public. The book will soon be available for free online at Amazon, iTunes, and Barnes & Noble. but it can currently be directly downloaded here. The book is a culmination of a month-long poetry project. For their work to be included in the book, students had to perform the poem at least once in public, usually outside, in front of younger students.

And now Poetry in Public is available through the APS ACORN catalog as well!
