This program provides an opportunity for families of differently-abled children to enjoy swimming, and aquatics games while building friendships and exploring opportunities for physical activity and social interaction with other children and families.
The program is open to Arlington Residents only. Children (children and adults under 22) who are differently-abled, their siblings, and a care-giver/parent, will be admitted free of charge on the first and third Saturday of each month at the Washington-Liberty Aquatics Center from 4-6 PM. Adults, other than the designated care-giver, will be charged regular adult admission ($6.00). Fee reduction based on income is available to all participants.
During this designated time, participants will have access to the Instructional Pool, Diving Well and the shallow end of the Competition Pool. Activities include free swimming, diving, lap swimming, water basketball and volleyball, log rolling and other pool games. All Pool Rules and Regulations apply. To ensure the safety of all participants, all children will be required to have a safety assessment test before entering water over 3-feet. Staff will work with each parent or care-giver to conduct the assessment in a manner that is least stressful to the individual child.
Health Department regulations limit the number of children that can be admitted to the instructional pool at a given time. We request the collaboration of the families to allow for participation by the greater number of participants in each session. Please register your child below. To allow the staff to anticipate the number of potential participants, and to gain a greater understanding of how we can best facilitate your child and family’s enjoyment of the program.
