Direct Deposit

All employees must sign up for direct deposit directly into their checking or savings accounts.

Pay Days

Employees are paid semi-monthly, on the 15th and the last business day of each month. Ten month employees (teachers, assistants, bus drivers) may select to be paid 20 or 24 times per year. Pay stubs are available electronically through STARs. The Payroll Office offers more information about employee pay.


All employees have Federal and State income taxes, and Social Security taxes deducted from their pay. Employees covered by the Arlington County Supplemental Retirement System have their retirement contributions deducted from their paychecks. Additionally, employees may authorize a number of other deductions, for example, health insurance premiums, dental insurance premiums, credit union payments, tax-sheltered annuity payments, United Way contributions, flexible spending account contributions, etc.
