• Students in Grade 4 are administered the Virginia Studies SOL.
• Students in Grade 7 are administered the Civics and Economics SOL.
• SOL tests are untimed and consist of multiple choice questions
• Blueprints for these SOL tests can be found on the VDOE website.

Students participate in local alternative assessments, including authentic or performance assessments. Performance Based Assessments (PBAs) measure subject-matter proficiency and require students to apply the content and skills they have learned to an authentic task.  PBAs present opportunities for students to demonstrate acquisition of the “Five C’s” – critical thinking, creativity, communication, collaboration and citizenship. Types of Social Studies Performance Assessments

• VDOE Performance Assessments
  • Developed for courses where students can earn a Locally Awarded Verified Credit (LAVC), which includes World Geography, World History II, World History I and VA/US History.
  • Students create written responses to a compelling question using primary and secondary sources.
  • Occurs 3-4 times a year.
  • The skills and content knowledge are assessed using a VDOE grade banded rubric.
• APS Developed Performance Assessments
  • 28 PBAs have been developed throughout grades K-12.
  • Students create written responses to a compelling question using primary and secondary sources.
  • Students engage in APS common performance based assessments one to four times a year.
  • The skills and content knowledge are assessed using a VDOE grade banded rubric.

The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) adopted grade-banded rubrics for performance assessment tasks to provide a clear, consistent, and developmentally appropriate framework for evaluating student performance. The use of grade-banded rubrics were developed with the following in mind:

• Aligns with expectations with students’ cognitive development.
• Provides a consistent assessment framework across grade ranges.
• Highlights skill progression from basic to advanced.
• Allows for tailored instruction to meet student needs.
• Promotes equitable access across diverse classrooms

Grade-banded rubrics can be viewed on the VDOE website.

Scores on the VDOE grade-banded rubrics range between 0 and 4. Students may also receive NS for Not Submitted or NT for Not Taken.

In APS, teachers use labels on student report cards, rather than numbers. These labels include Extending the Standard, Meeting the Standard, Approaching the Standard, and Developing the Standard.

ঐতিহ্যগতভাবে, শিক্ষার্থীরা কোর্সের সমাপ্তিতে বহুনির্বাচনী SOL পরীক্ষায় উত্তীর্ণ হয়ে যাচাইকৃত ক্রেডিট অর্জন করে। 2022-23 স্কুল বছরের শুরুতে, ইতিহাস/সামাজিক স্টাডিজ গ্রহণকারী শিক্ষার্থীরা স্থানীয়ভাবে পুরস্কৃত যাচাইকৃত ক্রেডিট প্রক্রিয়ার মাধ্যমে তাদের যাচাইকৃত ক্রেডিট অর্জন করবে যাতে কোর্সের বিষয়বস্তু এবং দক্ষতার নির্দেশনা এবং মূল্যায়ন অন্তর্ভুক্ত থাকে।

স্থানীয়ভাবে পুরস্কৃত যাচাইকৃত ক্রেডিট অর্জন করার জন্য, শিক্ষার্থীদের অবশ্যই:

1. আগে সামাজিক স্টাডিজে একটি যাচাইকৃত ক্রেডিট অর্জন করেননি
2. বর্তমানে যে কোর্সের জন্য তারা যাচাইকৃত ক্রেডিট চাইছেন তাতে নথিভুক্ত হন
3. কোর্স পাস
4. কোর্সের জন্য বেশিরভাগ যুগ বা বিভাগে একটি VDOE উন্নত কর্মক্ষমতা-ভিত্তিক মূল্যায়নে অংশগ্রহণ করুন
   • বিশ্ব ইতিহাস II: VDOE তিনটি যুগের মধ্যে দুটিতে প্রয়োজনীয় মূল্যায়ন তৈরি করেছে।
   • বিশ্ব ভূগোল, শব্দ ইতিহাস I, ভার্জিনিয়া/মার্কিন ইতিহাস: VDOE চারটি যুগের মধ্যে তিনটিতে প্রয়োজনীয় মূল্যায়ন তৈরি করেছে।
5. শিক্ষকের তৈরি/নির্বাচিত মূল্যায়নে অংশগ্রহণ করুন যা VDOE দ্বারা উন্নত কর্মক্ষমতা-ভিত্তিক মূল্যায়নের অন্তর্ভুক্ত নয় এমন বিষয়বস্তু এবং দক্ষতাগুলিকে কভার করে।

শিক্ষার্থীরা কোর্সটি পাস করতে পারে এবং একটি যাচাইকৃত ক্রেডিট অর্জন ছাড়াই কোর্সের জন্য একটি স্ট্যান্ডার্ড ক্রেডিট অর্জন করতে পারে। এটি ঘটবে যদি শিক্ষার্থী প্রয়োজনীয় সংখ্যক VDOE ভিত্তিক কর্মক্ষমতা-ভিত্তিক মূল্যায়নে জড়িত না হয়। এটা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ যে ছাত্ররা ক্লাসে উপস্থিত থাকে এবং তাদের পরিচালনার সময়ে প্রয়োজনীয় মূল্যায়নের প্রতিক্রিয়া জমা দেয়।

আর্লিংটনের জাতি এবং বিশ্বের ইতিহাসের সাথে তুলনামূলক একটি অনন্য ইতিহাস রয়েছে। সামাজিক স্টাডিজ অফিস আমাদের ছাত্রদের জন্য এই ইতিহাসকে প্রাণবন্ত করতে অন্যদের সাথে অংশীদারিত্বের সাথে কাজ করেছে। এর মধ্যে কয়েকটি উদ্যোগের মধ্যে রয়েছে:

• স্ট্রেটফোর্ডের দরজা দিয়ে- জর্জ ম্যাসন ইউনিভার্সিটির সেন্টার ফর নিউ মিডিয়া লিটারেসির সাথে অংশীদারিতে, মাধ্যমিক শিক্ষার্থীদের জন্য ডিজাইন করা একাধিক অনলাইন মডিউল নাগরিক অধিকার আন্দোলনের অধ্যয়নের ভিত্তি হিসাবে ফেব্রুয়ারি 1959 সালে আর্লিংটন পাবলিক স্কুলগুলির ল্যান্ডমার্ক সংহতিকে ব্যবহার করে।
• আর্লিংটন Marতিহাসিক চিহ্নিতকারী ভিডিও - বিভিন্ন বৈশিষ্ট্যযুক্ত APS কর্মী এবং সম্প্রদায়ের নেতারা, এই সংক্ষিপ্ত ভিডিওগুলি কাউন্টি জুড়ে অবস্থিত অসংখ্য historicalতিহাসিক চিহ্নিতকারীকে হাইলাইট করে।
