SLP/OT/PT Internships

Arlington Public Schools wishes to partner with universities to assist students in the development of professional skills by providing internships, fieldwork and clinical rotation opportunities with licensed and credentialed professionals in Arlington Public Schools.

APS must have a valid MOU or Affiliation Agreement with your college/university in order to complete a placement. If you are not sure of your college/university status, check with your university field placement coordinator.

Speech Language Pathology (SLP)

Arlington Public Schools wishes to partner with universities to assist students in the development of professional skills by providing internship opportunities with a licensed and credentialed speech language pathologist in an Arlington Public School. APS  is dedicated to ensuring that all students with disabilities receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially. APS Speech Language Pathologists provide support to this mission by delivering a wide range of services to their students, including direct and indirect therapy; working collaboratively with staff and families; modifying materials; providing general education interventions; as well as a variety of other services in direct support of student’s communication.  APS SLPs emphasize use of evidence-based practices in alignment with the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). Graduate students will contribute to implementing comprehensive data driven school based speech and language services alongside their building level supervisor.

Our online application requires the documents listed below. Please ensure you have all documents ready before starting the online application as you will be uploading each document into the application and cannot save and return to an incomplete application at a later time.

  • Personal Statement/Letter of Intent: Please upload a two-page statement which includes: personal information, an explanation of your work experience and special skills related to school counseling, why you want to become a school counselor, any specific location preferences in APS and any conflicts (relatives in any APS schools). *NOTE – specific site requests are not guaranteed.
  • Resume
  • Transcripts (Undergraduate and Graduate)
  • Three Letters of Recommendation
  • Negative TB test or proof of negative screening within placement year.

Complete the Online Application

After we receive completed applications, applicants will be contacted to schedule a mandatory screening interview. Upon approval, applicants’ names and supporting documentation will be forwarded to Human Resources for fingerprinting and criminal background checks.  Once the HR process is complete, students and their supervising university will receive official documentation of their placement in Arlington Public Schools. Occupational Therapy (OT) Fieldwork and Physical Therapy (PT) Clinical Rotation Candidates

Arlington Public Schools wishes to partner with universities to assist students in the development of professional skills by providing fieldwork and clinical rotation opportunities with licensed occupational therapists (OTs) and physical therapists (PTs) in the Arlington Public Schools. APS  is dedicated to ensuring that all students with disabilities receive the support they need to succeed academically and socially. APS OTs and PTs provide support to this mission by delivering a wide range of services to their students, including direct and indirect therapy; working collaboratively with staff and families; modifying materials; providing general education interventions; as well as a variety of other services in direct support of student’s access to education.  APS OTs and PTs emphasize use of evidence-based practices in alignment with the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) and the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).  Graduate students will contribute to implementing comprehensive data driven school based OT and PT services alongside their building level clinical educators.
