Instruction 2 Industry: February 2024 Events
In February 2024 during Career and Technical Education (CTE) Month, school divisions across the region are teaming up again with Virginia Ed Strategies to host the annual Instruction 2 Industry Career Expo event.
This Northern Virginia regional event will provide high school students with opportunities to connect virtually and in person with more than 100 local industry professionals from in-demand career fields. The purpose of this FREE career exploration event is to provide students with an opportunity to prepare for tomorrow’s workforce today.
There are three different types of sessions students can participate in based on their interests in one or more career fields and they include:
- Industry Panel Discussions include a variety of recognized professionals on a panel to answer questions and share valuable information for employment in specific career pathways.
- Information Sessions provide insight into specific companies or work-based learning opportunities.
- Career Planning Support sessions provide advice topics which may include writing effective resumes and cover letters appropriate for specific career pathways.
Virtual Career Panel Discussions
Dates: February 5-8, 2024
Times: 4-7 p.m.
Location: Online. All virtual sessions will be presented live. Recordings will be posted for viewing later.
In-Person Career Day
Dates: Saturday, February 17, 2024
Times: 1-4 p.m.
Location: Dulles Expo Center (North Hall)

Employability Skills Webinars
During the week of October 16-19, 2023, school divisions across the region teamed up with Virginia Ed Strategies to host employability skills webinars during the school day. The FREE event series provided students with an opportunity to prepare for future Work-Based Learning (WBL) Experiences.

Communication Etiquette
This session highlights digital communication before and after an interview to help you land a job!
Resume Writing
Learn about the benefits of having a résumé. Students will gain the knowledge they may use to start creating their résumé or improve the ones they already have.
Elevator Pitch
Students will learn how to professionally introduce themselves and connect with industry professionals.
Job Interviewing
Students will learn job interviewing skills and strategies to implement and impress their future employers.
