Department of Parks and Recreation Summer Camps

The Arlington County Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) offers various camps and programs during the summer that keep kids engaged, active and focused on expanding their horizons. DPR’s programs offer lots of choices, safe and inviting environments, and the chance for children to develop strong bonds with their community. As an alternative to the summer enrichment programs offered by APS over the summer during summer school, DPR has identified the following camps and programs as comparable alternatives:

Global Village: Study of Different Cultures, Geography, History

  • Abrakadoodle– World Art, Kids on Canvas & Creative Time Machine (art history)
  • DPR– A Solders Life, A Spy’s Life, Battlefield Explorers, Civil War Solider, Civil War Spy, Farm History Camp
  • Tiny Chefs- Cooking Around the World (Cooking and food from different cultures)
  • Engineering for Kids- STEAM into Ancient Egypt

Summer Laureate: Coding, Robotics, Project and Problem-Based Learning

Families interested in learning more about available DPR summer programs are able to review the DPR Summer Camp Catalog that is currently available online and at community centers throughout Arlington. Families that qualify are able to receive reduced registration fees for DPR summer programs. Registration for DPR summer programs begins online and by mail on Feb. 12 at 7 a.m. and in-person and over the phone on Feb. 14 at 8 a.m.
