Limiting Student Access to Google Add-ons and Chrome Extensions for Safety and Security Reasons –  2/2025

As of Wednesday, February 5, 2025, students’ ability to install Google Add-ons and Chrome Extensions has been blocked. This step simply reinforces an already established guideline: students can no longer log into a Chrome browser with their personal Google account. If students have unapproved extensions on their devices, those extensions will no longer be functional. The change was made because of a major security issue. The add-ons and extensions had allowed students to install virtual private networks (VPN) which could bypass the APS content filter.
