It is hard to believe we are approaching the final week of the 2023-24 school year!

I hope that you and your students are ready for the final weeks of the school year. They have been working so hard, and several grade levels will complete their end-of-year assessments next week.

It is hard to believe May is here already, as we approach the end of a successful school year.  

This is the time of year when our staff and students are preparing for end-of-year assessments in May and working incredibly hard to finish the school year strong.

I hope you had a wonderful Spring Break. We look forward to ensuring all students have a strong final quarter of the school year.

APS schools and offices will be closed for Spring Break March 25-29. We look forward to seeing everyone back on April 1 to finish this school year strong.

We announced the 2024 APS Employees of the Year last Friday including five division-wide honorees and our school-based Teachers of the Year and Support Employees of the Year.

As we approach the final months of the school year—a time when we tend to see an uptick in absences—I want to share our own attendance data, which reinforces the negative impact of being absent 10% or more (about 18 days) of the school year.

Last week, I joined the School Board to honor employees who have dedicated 25, 30 and 35 years of service to APS. It was an honor to celebrate our dedicated staff.

I hope you enjoyed the long weekend and that your students found joy in the first snow day we’ve had in quite a while. 

I want to ensure families are aware of additional tutoring being offered in the coming weeks, and the Jan. 22 Community Information Night on student safety and well-being.

Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope you had a fulfilling and joyous break. We are happy to see our students back and look forward to supporting their success in the new year. 

Last week, the School Board approved the 2024-25 Program of Studies, and APS wants to ensure families are aware of the improvements in our course offerings for middle and high school students for the upcoming school year. 

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. This update includes reminders about notable dates in December, the importance of attendance, and information about the proposed calendars for the next two school years.

As a reminder, our schools will be closed this Friday in recognition of Veterans Day, and November is also Military Family Appreciation Month.

We’re back! We are off to a great start and are so happy to welcome our students.
