Kenmore Middle School

The Office of Equity and Excellence, formerly the Office of Minority Achievement, will host the 2019 Color of Leadership Conference: THIS IS ME! on Saturday, March 30, 2019 from 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Kenmore Middle School (200 S. Carlin Springs Rd.). This conference is designed to empower middle school students of color with leadership skills and knowledge in an environment in which they feel supported, valued, seen, and heard. Throughout the day at the conference, students will travel in small groups with an adult and high school mentors from the community, and participate in workshops designed to motivate and challenge their thinking. Because everyone in our community plays a critical role in youth development, the Office of Equity and Excellence is always seeking ways to encourage targeted groups of students and guide them toward fulfilling lives.
The goals of the conference are to allow students to achieve the following:
- Connect and develop a powerful network of like-minded emerging leaders;
- Create relationships and teach skills to help students gain confidence and advocate for themselves; and
- Innovate and inspire students to set clear goals for their futures and foster awareness of opportunities in various career fields.
If you are interested in having your child attend, please contact the equity and excellence coordinator at your child’s school or have your child speak with them at school to register to attend the conference.
