SAT/ACT Online Test Preparation
On October 31, 2011, Arlington Public Schools signed a contract with Method Test prep to provide an online SAT/ACT test preparation course. Method Test Prep will be available to students in all comprehensive and alternative high school programs as part of Naviance Succeed. The program begins with evaluation tests in mathematics, critical reading, and writing followed by specific lessons and practice questions. The advantage of this program is that students log in with a username and password. No special software is needed as it is an internet-based program.
The program description states that “students are presented with a simple checklist that is composed of 15 minute tasks. Students can watch video explanations of how to solve every commonly asked SAT and ACT question. Students can also listen to a professional tutor explain the concepts and questions that they are struggling with, without reading through pages of text. As part of our SAT prep online and our ACT prep online, students get immediate feedback on every question. Each student’s performance is tracked and strengths and weaknesses are clearly indicated. Counselors and parents can see where students need to focus their study time.”
