Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the School Board is taking steps to protect the community, staff, and Board members as they conduct public business. This includes adjusting meeting procedures to comply with current guidelines on social gatherings. Comenzando en Marzo 11, the regular School Board Meetings will be conducted in-person, with strictly limited attendance. The Board room has been marked for social distancing and will accommodate approximately 15 meeting attendees in addition to the Board and required staff.

SPEAKER PROCESS:  For in-person School Board meetings, Public Comment on Agenda and Non-Agenda items will continue to be heard at the beginning of the meeting and will be limited to 1 hour. At each meeting, the Board will hear from a maximum of 30 speakers and each speaker will have up to 2 minutes to comment.

NUEVO: Up to 15 speakers will be allowed to comment in person and the remaining slots will be given to call-in speakers. All speakers must sign up in advance and indicate whether they want to speak in person or to call in to the meeting. Call in speakers will be heard first, followed by the in-person speakers.  We will continue to use the lottery process to select speakers if we receive more requests than available slots. If a confirmed speaker is not able to participate, we ask that the Board office be notified so the open slot can be offered to the next name on the waitlist.

During in-person meetings, the Board will comply with all health and safety guidelines. All meeting attendees will go through a health screening upon entering the Syphax Education Center. Participants are expected to wear masks at all times, maintain 6-foot physical distancing, and use hand sanitizer and wipes as needed to keep all surfaces clean. 

In-person speakers may be asked to leave the Board Room after presenting their comments so others can also participate. The Board will continue to refine plans going forward to allow as much public participation in meetings as possible.
