Registration For Extended Day

PLEASE NOTE: To be eligible for Extended Day registration, the family account cannot have a past due balance.

Extended Day Registration for the
2024 Summer and 2024-2025 School Year

The registration process is conducted in four phases, as indicated below.  During the appropriate phase, families must submit registration information online to the Extended Day Central Office.  Subsequently, families will receive notification that each child has been enrolled or placed on a waitlist.

Families must meet the following criteria to register for the Extended Day Program

  • parents/guardians must be employed, in school, or incapacitated
  • family accounts cannot have a past due balance
  • students must be registered to Arlington Public Schools and have a valid student ID #
  • students must be four years old by September 30, 2024

2024 Summer Extended Day Registration

2024 Summer Extended Day Registration: April 8th @ 8am – April 26th @ 1pm

  • Open to all students enrolled in APS Elementary Summer School Programs
  • Students must be 5 years old by September 30, 2024
  • Registration is conducted online using the buttons at the bottom of this page.

Due to low enrollment, students attending Summer School instruction at Cardinal, Barrett, and ATS will be transported on APS school buses to an alternate location for their After Summer School Extended Day services.

  • Students enrolled in the After Summer School Extended Day session at Cardinal Summer School will be bussed to Ashlawn for Extended Day services.
    Extended Day parents ​must pick ​up their children from Ashlawn Elementary School by 6pm.

  • Students enrolled in the After Summer School Extended Day session at Barrett Summer School will be bussed to Campbell for Extended Day services.
    Extended Day parents ​must pick ​up their children from Campbell Elementary School by 6pm.
    .
  • Students enrolled in the After Summer School Extended Day session at ATS Summer School will be bussed to Long Branch for Extended Day services.
    Extended Day parents ​must pick ​up their children from Long Branch Elementary School by 6pm.

2024-2025 Phase 1: Open only to families with students enrolled in the Extended Day after school session on May 1, 2024, and their siblings.

May 13th, 2024 @ 8am- May 24th, 2024 @ 1pm

  • Registration fees will be charged at the time of registration.
    Registration fee payment for Phase 1 must be received in the Extended Day Central Office by May 28th @ 1pm.
  • Families will receive enrollment confirmation via email by May 31, 2024.
  • Registration is conducted online through your Extended Day family account.

2024-2025 Phase 2: Open only to families registered to the 2023-24 Waitlist as of October 1, 2023, who have not been offered an enrollment slot, and their siblings.

May 28th, 2024 @ 8am – June 7th, 2024 @ 1pm

  • Students will be enrolled for next school year in the same order that they are currently assigned to the 2023-2024 Waitlist until all spaces are filled.
  • Any remaining students will be placed on the 2024-2025 Waitlist in the same order that they are currently assigned to the 2023-2024 Waitlist.
  • Registration fees will be charged at the time of registration.
    Registration fee payment for Phase 2 must be received in the Extended Day Central Office by June 10th @ 1pm.
  • Families will be informed of their enrollment or waitlist status via email by June 28, 2024.
  • Registration is conducted online through your Extended Day family account.

2024-2025 Phase 3: Open to all families

June 10th, 2024 @ 8am – June 21st, 2024 @ 1pm

  • Students registered during this phase will participate in a lottery and be assigned a family lottery number.
  • Students will be enrolled as slots are available, in order of the family lottery number.
  • If a program has reached capacity, students will be placed on the waitlist following students from Phase 2.
  • Kindergarten and Pre-K slots are allocated separately due to space and staff to child ratios.
  • Registration fee will be charged at the time of registration.
    Registration fee payment deadlines for Phase 3 will be announced by June 7th.
  • Families will be informed of their enrollment or waitlist status via email by June 28, 2024.
  • Registration is conducted online through your Extended Day family account.
  • New families must complete the New Family Account Set-up form before being able to register.

2024-2025 Phase 4: Ongoing for all students

June 24th, 2024 @ 8 am

  • Families who register after June 24th will be enrolled if space is available.
  • If the program has reached capacity, the student will be placed on a waitlist in the order that their registration is received.
  • Registration fees will be charged at the time of registration
    Registration fee payment deadlines for Phase 3 will be announced by June 21st.
  • Families will be informed of their enrollment or waitlist status via email as the registrar processes information in the order it is received.
  • Registration is conducted online through your Extended Day family account.
  • New families must complete the New Family Account Set-up form before being able to register.

Extended Day Registration for the Current
(2023-2024) School Year

The registration process is ongoing throughout the school year.  Families must submit registration information online to the Extended Day Central Office and will receive notification that each child has been enrolled or placed on a waitlist.

Families must meet the following criteria to register for the Extended Day Program

  • students must be registered to Arlington Public Schools and have a valid student ID #
  • students must be four years old by September 30, 2024

Ongoing Registration Throughout the School Year:

  • Students will be enrolled if space is available.
  • If the program has reached capacity, the student will be placed on a waitlist in the order that their registration is received.
  • Registration fees will be charged at the time of registration and must be paid by 3pm 10 business days from the date of submitting registration.
  • Registration is conducted online through your Extended Day family account.
  • New families must complete the New Family Account Set-up form before being able to register.

Eligibility Requirements for Extended Day Registration

Students must be registered for Arlington Public Schools

  • A valid APS Student ID number must be provided for the student to be eligible for Extended Day registration.

Please contact your school’s registrar for assistance if you have not received your child’s Student ID Number.

Students must be four years old by September 30 of the school year they are registering to receive services.

Parents/Guardians must be employed, in school, or incapacitated

Supporting documentation may be requested.

Extended Day family accounts cannot have a past-due balance

You may view your account balance by logging in to your Extended Day family account online with DayCare Works.

Please note:  Current account balances will not be indicated on MySchoolBucks.com, so please refer to your family account.

Preparing for Registration: New Families

Please refer to the Registration page for the dates and times for new family registration.

Register your Child with Arlington Public Schools

If your child is not registered with Arlington Public Schools (APS), please visit Student Registration or contact your neighborhood school.  After registering for APS you will receive an APS Student ID number which can be used during the Extended Day registration process.

  • Students must be registered to Arlington Public Schools and have a valid student ID #.
    Please contact your school’s registrar for assistance if you have not received your child’s Student ID Number.

To Create your Extended Day Family Account

  • Complete the New Family Registration form.
    • Within 2-3 business days of completing this form, you will receive an email with your account credentials, a temporary password, and a link to complete your registration information.
  • Log in to your family account at Daycare Works
  • From the home page click on the blue ‘Personal’ tile on the left, or ‘Personal’ at the top of the page, then:
    • Click on “Update Information” under each person’s name and provide all required information.  Remember to click ‘Save’ at the bottom of each page.
    • To add another child, click ‘Add New Child’ (located at the top of the page), and provide all required information. Remember to click ‘Save’ at the bottom of the page.
    • To add Emergency Contacts, click ‘Add Contact’ (located toward the bottom of the page), fill in all the required information, and click Save at the bottom of the page.  You are required to add at least 2 emergency contacts, other than the parent(s)/guardian(s), who can reach the school within 30 minutes.

To Register for Extended Day Sessions (i.e. before and/or after school)

During your child’s eligible registration phase, log in to your family account at Daycare Works and click on ‘Registration’.
You will be able to follow along with the steps in our Registration Guide.

Log in to your Extended Day Family Account

  1. Log in to your family account at Daycare Works
  2. A ‘Message/Warnings’ box may appear that will indicate if additional information is required for your account

Account Update

  1. Before starting your registration, you will need to reconfirm that all student, parent/guardian, and emergency contact information in your account is current.
    • Click on ‘OK’ to begin.
    • Click on ‘Update Information’ below each identified person’s name to review and update the required information.
    • After updating the information, click ‘Save’ at the bottom of each page.
    • Are all siblings added to your account? If not, click on ‘Add New Student’, located just above the first student’s name. Enter all required information and click save at the bottom of the page.
    • Once you have completed your review and update, click on ‘CONFIRM INFORMATION IS CORRECT.

Begin Registration

  1. Click on ‘Registration’ at the top of the page.
    • Note: If required information is still missing a ‘Message/Warnings’ box will appear.
      • To update the information identified click on ‘Update Information’ below each person’s name to update the information.
      • After updating the information, click ‘Save’ at the bottom of each page.
      • Then you may proceed by clicking ‘Registration’.

Select Program Information

  1. From drop-down menus select the appropriate choice for which you are registering:
    • School year or Summer
    • Semester (start and end of the full year)
    • Center (school your student attends)
  2. Click on ‘Search’
  3. Scroll down and click ‘Select’ for each session (‘Before’ and/or ‘After’) you would like your child to attend.
    • Carefully select the session for the grade group that matches the grade of your child.
    • You will be given the opportunity to select a different session/grade group for additional children in the steps ahead.
  4. Click ‘Continue’, located at the bottom right of the page.
  5. Click on the student(s) associated with the registration for the session(s) and grade group selected.
  6. Click on ‘Submit’.
  7. Review the information shown.
    • Information with a red star indicates mandatory information that must be provided before you may proceed.
  8. Click ‘Add to Cart’.
  9. If needed, click on ‘Add Additional Sibling(s)/Additional Programs’ to select additional sessions for the same student, or to make session selections for any sibling(s).
    • If you need to remove any sessions shown, you may click on the red X to the left of the row.

Confirmation and Check Out

  1. Click on the round indicator for each confirmation question to acknowledge having read, understand, and agree to each statement.
  2. Click on ‘Continue’
  3. Type your electronic signature in the box provided and click on ‘Submit’.
    • You will then need to click on ‘Close’ to acknowledge your signature has been captured.
  4. Review the information for registration fees and payment deadlines.
  5. Click on ‘Complete Registration’ to submit your registration request
    • You will need to click on ‘Close’ to acknowledge the message stating your registration was saved successfully.
  6. A confirmation that you have submitted your registration information will appear on your screen, as well as be sent to your email.
    • Please print or save a copy for your records.
