Isabel Messmore is the Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Specialist for Arlington Public Schools. She has over 25 years of progressive national and international experience in teaching, leadership, professional development for educators, and learning events for parents and families. Isabel holds Virginia Department of Education endorsements in Leadership and Supervision, Early Childhood, Spanish, and English as a Second Language. She received her doctorate from the University of Barcelona in 2007 and her National Board Certification in 2013. She is bilingual/bicultural in English and Spanish and fluent in French and Catalan.
As the FACE Specialist, Isabel partners with other educators, families, and the Arlington community to strengthen family engagement and develop parent leadership in racially and culturally diverse settings. Her approach to family engagement is based on best practices and peer-reviewed research and literature. She is committed to providing opportunities to both educators and families that foster strong partnerships in support of student academic and socio-emotional development.
