On Thursday, June 18, Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) President Dr. Anne M. Kress served as the keynote speaker for the Arlington Career Center’s (ACC) graduation ceremony recognizing the class of 2021 – the first class of dual enrollment graduates.
The Association of Two-Way Dual Language Education (ATDLE) has awarded Dr. Ana Muñoz Gonzalez, a Dual Language Immersion (DLI) teacher at Wakefield High School, with the 2021 Secondary Dual Language Immersion Teacher of the Year Award.
At the June 24 School Board meeting, the School Board approved the Superintendent’s recommendations that were informed by the School Resource Officer (SRO) Work Group and adopted the FY 2022-24 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
The School Board named Iliana Gonzales Principal of Taylor Elementary School at its June 24 meeting.

Arlington County Government and Arlington Public Schools (APS) will formally dedicate the Stratford Commemorative Trail at what is now Dorothy Hamm Middle School (formerly Stratford Junior High School).
Twenty six APS students have been invited to participate in the Summer Residential Governor’s School for Academics, Mentorship, Visual and Performing Arts and World Language Academies.
Due to graduation ceremonies, there will be no meal distribution at Washington-Liberty High School on Wed, June 16 and at Yorktown High School on Fri, June 18.
This week, RISE, a national nonprofit that educates and empowers the sports community to eliminate racial discrimination, began facilitating interactive workshops with Arlington Public Schools Student-Athlete Advisory Council members and coaches.
