2025 All-Virginia Music Honors for APS Students

Twenty-two APS students are participating this weekend in the All-Virginia Orchestra, All-Virginia Symphonic Band, All-Virginia Concert Band, and All-Virginia Chorus ensembles, which are running from Thu, April 24, through Sat, April 26. Greater Richmond is serving as host to more than 700 students who comprise the 2025 All-Virginia Band, Chorus, and Orchestra ensembles. Concerts for all groups will take place on Sat, April 26. The Carpenter Theatre at the Dominion Energy Center in downtown Richmond is the performance venue for the high school chorus, band, and orchestra ensembles. Concerts will start at 11 a.m. with the choral ensembles and will end at 3:45 p.m.

Selected through a highly competitive audition process, there are five total high school ensembles, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Treble Choir and Mixed Choir, who joined together over the weekend. Participants rehearse with nationally recognized conductors and collaborate with fellow musicians during the event. Approximately 300 music teachers, who are members of the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association and the Virginia Choral Directors Association, will also be in attendance.  All of the attending teachers are also current members of the Virginia Music Educators Association. Additionally, the Virginia Choral Directors Association is hosting selected All-Virginia Middle School Chorus students who will perform Saturday afternoon in downtown Richmond at The Carpenter Theatre at 4:45 p.m. after the conclusion of the high school ensembles.
