This week’s Every Student Counts video spotlights Social Studies with a focus on different perspectives on history. It features the AP African American Studies class at Wakefield and a Geopolitics class at Washington-Liberty.
“The past gives way for the future,” said a Wakefield student. “And you gotta study that to know the mistakes, so you can not screw up again.”
“This is one way of trying to be aware of what’s going on so I can make my most informed decisions as a future voter,” said one W-L student. “Being informed is my civic duty,” said another.
Antionette Dempsey-Waters, AP African American History teacher at Wakefield, said, “It’s our job…to help students learn to empathize, and to understand how we all fit together in this beautiful puzzle piece of America.”
