Green Scene Highlights Claremont’s Outdoor Lab The new Claremont Elementary School Outdoor Classroom is showcased in this week’s episode of Green Scene. The outdoor classroom is designed to enhance the student learning experience, especially in the sciences, but also to attract wildlife with sources of food, water, shelter, and places for animals to raise their young. In September 2012, the area was designated a Certified Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. The space provides Claremont the opportunity to utilize the outdoors to enhance the learning opportunities offered to children. APS “Green Scene” is a bi-monthly video series that highlights the many sustainability efforts by students and staff to protect the environment. “Green Scene” can be seen on Comcast Cable Channel 70 and Verizon FiOS Channel 41 and airs nightly at 7 p.m. and may also run at additional times as scheduling allows. Green Scene can also be viewed online at www.apsva.us/greenscene. The program will air twice a month during the school year.
