Hoffman-Boston Students Visit Library of Congress
Second graders from Hoffman-Boston elementary school traveled to the Library of Congress on Wednesday, January 29, to see author Dav Pilkey, of “Dog Man” and “Captain Underpants” fame, kick off his international tour for his newest book Dog Man: Big Jim Begins!
Students heard about Dav Pilkey’s inspirational journey as a student and author, and each student received a free autographed copy of Dog Man: Big Jim Begins and other treats, courtesy of Scholastic Books.
In a statement, Dav Pilkey said, “In this new book, Big Jim begins to discover that what we focus on is often more important than what happens to us. Books bring people together and reading helps kids develop empathy and compassion. I’m excited to meet readers in person, sign their books, and I look forward to celebrating everyday heroes within each community who make this world a better place.”
