How will families be notified of a COVID-19 positive case or cases?

When there is a confirmed positive COVID-19 case, APS works with the school, Arlington County and state health officials to identify and immediately notified those who have had direct contact and follow up with any quarantine instructions.  All close contacts are notified immediately as they are confirmed. Additionally, all schools have been instructed to send a community COVID-19 notification letter to their school community, identifying the number of cases and grade levels, regarding confirmation of a positive case or cases. These notices are sent as soon as all close contacts have been notified. Families are also asked to carefully monitor their student’s health and look for symptoms, keeping students home if sick. Exclusions by zip code and school are tracked weekly on the APS website.
