Meet our July 2026 APS All Stars

Each month, APS proudly recognizes staff members who go above and beyond to support students, families and colleagues. The APS All Stars program highlights individuals who demonstrate excellence in collaboration, equity, inclusivity, integrity, innovation and stewardship.

This month, we are proud to recognize five employees whose dedication, leadership and care helped make the 2026 Summer School program a success.

Karen Miller

Eunice Kennedy Shriver Program

Karen Miller, an administrative assistant in the Shriver Program’s front office, manages a fast-paced environment with grace, precision and care. She welcomes every student, family member and visitor with a warm smile, helping ensure the Shriver Program remains a welcoming and supportive community.

Ms. Miller’s ability to multitask is extraordinary. She seamlessly manages arrivals, answers phone calls, assists with deliveries and encourages students to do their best work. She also brings deep compassion to her role, ensuring families feel heard and concerns are handled professionally.

Her organization keeps daily attendance, payroll, visitor logs and student records running smoothly. Faculty, staff and administrators depend on her reliability and dedication each day. Ms. Miller is a vital part of the Shriver community and a deserving APS All Star.


Jonathan Allen

Eunice Kennedy Shriver Program

Jonathan Allen joined the Shriver Program as an instructional assistant for the summer term and quickly became an important part of the team. His dedication, kindness and supportive approach help create a positive learning environment for students and colleagues.

Mr. Allen demonstrates exceptional collaboration in his work with students, teachers, transportation staff, cafeteria staff and administrators. He approaches each interaction with care and consistently looks for ways to support those around him.

His commitment to teamwork and his genuine concern for students embody the spirit of the APS All Stars program. The Shriver community is fortunate to have his support this summer.


Lisa Lee

Glebe Elementary School

Lisa Lee demonstrates extraordinary leadership and commitment to the Glebe Elementary School summer program. She is often the first staff member to arrive and the last to leave, ensuring students and staff have what they need before each instructional day begins.

Ms. Lee is solution-oriented, dependable and consistent in her communication with students and staff. She is approachable and welcoming to families, colleagues and everyone who enters the school.

Her leadership has helped build a strong and supportive summer school culture, reflected in the program’s 100% annual staff return rate. Ms. Lee’s genuine care and steady leadership make her an exceptional APS All Star.


Michael Slobodnjak

Wakefield High School

Michael Slobodnjak’s leadership throughout Summer School has been exceptional. As the Summer School point of contact, he has gone above and beyond to ensure students, staff and families receive the support they need each day.

Mr. Slobodnjak has skillfully managed daily operations, coached staff and administrators through challenging situations and communicated with families with empathy and professionalism. He leads with confidence and humility while consistently putting students first.

His willingness to learn and grow has been especially meaningful. Each week, he collaborated with different administrative teams, welcomed feedback and refined his approach to better serve the community. His leadership has built trust and contributed greatly to the success of Summer School.


Stephanie McIntyre

Syphax Education Center

Stephanie McIntyre demonstrated outstanding leadership throughout the Summer School planning process. Following a significant transition in how the program was coordinated, she stepped forward to lead this complex work and took ownership of countless instructional, operational and logistical details.

Ms. McIntyre collaborated across departments, navigated evolving processes and addressed challenges proactively. Her organization, persistence and innovative thinking helped bring many moving pieces together into a cohesive plan supporting students, staff and families.

Her willingness to take on this significant responsibility, in addition to her many other duties, was instrumental to the success of this year’s Summer School program. Ms. McIntyre’s tireless commitment and dependable leadership exemplify the very best of APS.
