Murphy Joins AASA Governing Board Arlington Superintendent Dr. Pat Murphy is one of 37 new members recently elected to serve on the national Governing Board of the American Association of School Administrators (AASA). Founded in 1865, AASA is the professional organization for more than 13,000 educational leaders in the United States and throughout the world. AASA supports and develops effective school leaders who are dedicated to the highest quality public education for all children. Governing Board members are elected by AASA members in their states and serve a term of three years. The Governing Board is part of the elected leadership of the Association, and members represent their home state and report on the work of the Association to their state affiliate. The Board focuses on regional and national legislation affecting public education as well as emerging educational issues and trends.
