Nottingham Elementary fourth-grade student Josephine Daher has been selected to have her artwork featured on a Metro bus for the 2026 Earth Day celebration.
Guided by art teacher Ms. Zoller, her design encourages people to use public transportation to reduce pollution and keep our air clean. The project also marks the 50th anniversary of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority and highlights how student voices can inspire environmental action. Josephine’s work will be showcased across the region, sharing an important message about sustainability.
APS looks forward to celebrating her achievement at the Earth Day reception at Metro Headquarters on April 22! Congratulations, Josephine!

Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month
Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the cultures, histories, traditions and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities while highlighting the voices and experiences that enrich APS and our broader community.
September Schedule of Board Meetings, Work Sessions, and Advisory Council and Committee Meetings
Meetings take place in the Board Room of the Syphax Education Center, and generally begin at 7 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
Calendar Update: Changes to Elementary Parent-Teacher Conference Days
Elementary students will have a full instructional day on Wednesday, an early-release day on Thursday and no school on Friday during each conference period.
