School Board Appoints New H-B Woodlawn Principal The Arlington School Board approved the appointment of Dr. Casey Robinson as the new Principal of the H-B Woodlawn Secondary Program. Robinson has served as an assistant principal at H-B Woodlawn for five years. Superintendent Dr. Pat Murphy said of Robinson, “Casey Robinson has a rich history with H-B Woodlawn and the Arlington community as an H-B student, teacher and administrator. In addition to her strong background as an instructional leader at H-B Woodlawn, Dr. Robinson has a thoughtful strong commitment and vision for the school. She is eager to find new ways to enhance the instructional program and to integrate the interests of the alternative program with the interests and requirements of our larger APS school community.” He continued, “Dr. Robinson has displayed high expectations for students, openness to teacher initiatives, strong instructional skills and the ability to work collegially for instructional improvement.” Robinson holds a Bachelor of Arts from Rice University and Master of Public Policy from the University of Michigan’s Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy. She also received her endorsement in administration and supervision from George Mason University. Recently, Robinson earned her Ph.D. in education, administration and supervision from the University of Virginia. She brings five years of experience as an assistant principal and seven years as a teacher. In addition, Robinson has held various leadership roles at H-B Woodlawn, serving as Senior Class advisor, College Bound Latino sponsor, Harvard Model Congress sponsor, lead teacher and team leader and has served as a representative to the APS Teachers Council on Instruction. During her career at APS, she has also served as a minority achievement coordinator, middle school summer school assistant administrator and an assistant administrator of the Functional Life Skills Program and Career Center Enrichment Program. Her appointment begins July 1.
