Daily Reading

Join the Arlington Public Library Summer Reading Challenge and encourage your student to read for at least 30 minutes each day.Students can also access digital books through APS Library Resources in Canvas.

Math & Problem Solving

Choose one activity:

  • Math in the News: Read a newspaper or online news article and identify graphs, percentages, statistics, or other data. Discuss what the numbers show and how they may have been calculated.
  • Home Improvement Estimate: Estimate how much paint would be needed to cover a bedroom wall by calculating the area and subtracting the space occupied by windows and doors.

World Languages

Practice your target language during meals by using or signing everyday expressions such as “please,” “thank you,” “I am hungry,” and “more.” Students studying Latin can explore food-related Latin roots and learn about Roman dining traditions.

Creative Arts & Expression

Create an Art Prompt Jar by filling a container with creative prompts such as “Draw a dream,” “Paint using one color,” or “Design an album cover.” Draw one prompt and create something new.

Social Studies

Take a virtual tour through Google Arts & Culture and explore museums from around the world. *Please preview museum content in advance to ensure it is appropriate for your student.
