Swanson Students Work to Improve the Environment In this week’s episode, Green Scene highlights Swanson Middle School’s Star Program and how the students involved work to improve the environment. Recently students collected over 44,000 acorns that were donated to the Growing Native initiative. Those acorns were then planted along the Potomac basin to help with erosion. The Star environmental program helps educate students on environmental issues, develops leadership skills and builds a sense of community. APS “Green Scene” is a bi-monthly video series that highlights the many sustainability efforts by students and staff to protect the environment. “Green Scene” can be seen on Comcast Cable Channel 70 and Verizon FiOS Channel 41 and airs nightly at 7 p.m. and may also run at additional times as scheduling allows.
