Did you know that the APS spam filters block approximately 90% of the incoming email? Despite having these strong filters in place, we all get some spam. Spam is the electronic version of “junk mail.” The term spam refers to unsolicited, often unwanted, email messages. Spam does not necessarily contain viruses—valid messages from legitimate sources could fall into this category.
In this article, US-CERT provides some tips on how to reduce the amount of spam you receive. Following these best practices are especially relevant to your personal email accounts which may not have the level of spam filtering provided by the APS email system.
