While the practice probably has is roots deep in human history, the first documented “confidence man” was Samual Thompson (1821-1856). He “conned” people out of their valuables by gaining their trust. Over the past 150s or so the skills of these “con men” has grown and their medium is now frequently in the form of an email. Modern day con men can steal your life savings, or the personal information of our students and staff.
