Online Registration

Registrations are currently being accepted for the 2023-2024 school year and pre-registration for the 2024-2025 school year. Only students new to APS need to register.

Helpful information before starting the Online Registration (OLR) process:

  1. During your online registration request, you will be able to upload registration documents OR you can present them in person at the school.
  2. Please note that once you hit submit at the end of the process, you will not be able to return to make changes or upload additional documents.
  3. An APS ParentVue account is required. Please see the section below for guidance.
  4. Online registration is currently only available to students entering Kindergarten through 12th grade. Information about PreK programs and the application process can be found here.
  5. Children must be living with a natural or legal guardian living in Arlington County to be eligible for public education in APS.
  6. Children must be 5 years old prior to September 30th to be eligible for Kindergarten.

APS ParentVue Accounts 

  1. An APS ParentVue account is required to access the online registration process.
  2. More information about APS ParentVue accounts can be found here.
  3. If you have an existing account, you must use your login and password to complete the online registration request.
  4. If you do not have a current APS ParentVue account, please create one following the directions on the page linked here.

How to Register Online

STEP 1: Review the online student registration checklist

  1. Collect required documents prior to selecting the “Begin Online Registration Request” button below.
  2. View the online student registration checklist. English| Spanish | Amharic | Arabic | Mongolian
  3. You must be the parent or guardian of the student you are enrolling

STEP 2: Begin the online registration request process

  1. You will be prompted to log into your ParentVue account.
  2. Create an account if you do not have one.
  3. If you have an APS student, you should already have an account.
  4. Contact your child’s school registrar if you need support with your ParentVue account.
  5. If you forgot your password, click the “Forgot Password” link.

STEP 3: Schedule registration appointment with an APS registrar

  1. Your online registration request will be submitted to your neighborhood school or the Welcome Center.
  2. An APS registrar will reach out to you after you submit your registration request to schedule your registration appointment.
  3. You will receive a registration confirmation email when your registration has been processed which will include your student’s ID number.

Privacy and Security

For privacy and information security reasons, families should never send personally identifiable information through email and should always upload them through the secure upload website. Personally identifiable information is information that, alone or in combination, can be linked to a specific student, including but not limited to:

  • Name of student, parents, or other family members;
  • Address of student, parents, or other family members;
  • Personal identifier, such as a Social Security Number, APS student ID, or health records.
  • Indirect identifiers, such as date of birth, place of birth, or mother’s maiden name.

No APS employee will ever email or call families requesting any personally identifiable information be submitted through email. If you do receive an email requesting this information, please disregard it because it may be a phishing email attempting to receive access to your personally identifiable information. If you receive a call requesting this information, only submit the documentation through the secure upload portal and not through email.
