Test-to-Stay Program

test to stay covid-19 graphicThe Virginia Department of Health (VDH) Test-to-Stay Program (TTS) allows students identified as close contacts to remain in school instead of quarantining at home.

  • WHO: To be eligible, students must be unvaccinated, asymptomatic, and identified as a close contact via exposure that occurred at school. (More info for vaccinated students)
  • WHEN: Free proctored COVID-19 testing will be provided for these students at Syphax from 8:15 a.m.-7 p.m. on school days. The program requires close contacts to take the COVID-19 rapid test for five consecutive days following the exposure.
  • HOW: When/if a student is identified as a close contact, the Contact Tracing Team will provide documentation on eligibility and a consent form to participate.

Student Vaccine Verification
Starting in February, we will collect voluntary student vaccine information for the Test-to-Stay program and to further support the contact tracing process to reduce any disruption to a student’s education. Families are encouraged to complete student vaccine verification by uploading their documentation and completing the online questionnaire.

Please ensure you enter an “S” before your student’s ID number to ensure that their record is updated appropriately.

Families who need support can contact our COVID Response Team at covid@apsva.us.

Test to Stay is not for students who become sick at school with COVID-like symptoms. Find out more
